Editor’s Choice: Top Ten Finance Specialists 2021: Katharine Wooller

Katharine heads up Dacxi in the UK and Europe.  The business is in hypergrowth, which comes with huge challenges – in 2021 the business had more turnover in the first 7 weeks that we had globally in 2020!  With that came a huge need to grow and develop the team over the ‘COVID period’, which of course has been a challenge.

Katharine is focused on building a business that creates sustainable change: long term Dacxi will be a crowd funder of up and coming tech businesses which are in need of seed capital across 100 countries.  Building the Dacxi Community which already stands at tens of thousands of users, is key to this mission, both to spread the wealth of successful tech businesses, and to do a better job of allowing these businesses to scale.

She is keen that the Dacxi team continues to thrive; it really matters to her that each person feels empowered to deliver their best work, or a business they believe in, that is creating real change, and that they really enjoy the day to day.  She is proud of the awards that she has been personally nominated for, and the awards that the business has won.

The argument for crypto is that it is a replacement financial system, which is more efficient, democratic and fairer. In the last 18 months it has been the best performing asset class on the planet.  Broadly, anyone that has purchased crypto any more than 2 months ago is in profit.  Katharine, through her role at Dacxi, is therefore keen to spread this message to an audience, who can educate themselves on crypto, as a means to financial freedom.  She therefore provides extensive educational resources, via webinars, ebooks and social media, and founded Women Who Crypto. which we believe is the largest online meet up of women interested in crypto.

She also seeks to give back, and spearheads Dacxi’s charitable efforts with ComputerAid which provides computer resources to communities in Africa and the UK which desperately need levelling up.  Her business is raising funds for the Charity and she intends on running an ultra marathon in 2021 as a fundraiser, a big challenge as she recently gave birth to a baby boy!  She has also provided guidance to secondary school girls interested in careers in STEM.

Nominees three achievements

~Novel Serialisation: Heavens Fire~

Achievement No.1

Katharine is proud to spread the word about crypto!  Dacxi offers leading education to crypto for retail investors, IFAs, wealth managers and accountants and the resources (all of which are free) have been accessed by thousands of users all over the world.  Unsurprisingly, she has been interviewed about crypto on TV including BBC world news, and comments for a wide range of publications including UK national newspapers such as the Telegraph, Times and Daily Express.  She contributes extensively to various fintech, banking, and crypto currency trade publications.   She is a true ambassador for the industry.

She was personally nominated for a Wirex award for Women in Crypto, and Dacxi as a business was recognised in the TechRound’s Fintech top 50.  Katharine has co-authored a book which is available on Amazon, and plans to release two more in the near future.

Achievement No.2 Women Who Crypto

As part of her drive to make crypto more accessible, and to increase the wealth of as many people as possible Katharine facilitates the Women Who Crypto group, which we believe to be the largest online meet up of women interested in crypto.  The community is very supportive, and the meet ups generally focus on financial freedom, and guest speakers are always “normal women” telling their stories with topics covering a huge range including investing, asset classes, financial education, careers, marriage, dating, children,  to name just a few!   She is proud to offer her services as a mentor, and has returned to her old school to inspire girls looking to work in STEM.

Achievement No.3 – hyper growth

The business has shown phenomenal growth under Katharine’s leadership, and has been in hypergrowth during her tenure as Managing Director.  In 2021 the business turnover grew 20x.  The team has grown by 550% and she is particularly proud to have pioneered new products within the crypto world including allowing pension and ISA investors access to reputable bluechip crypto coins  – we believe the first platform to do so.  This brings crypto and its phenomenal growth to a wider audience – at time of writing bitcoin has appreciated 126% this year, and ethereum 455%.

Katharine now sits on the board of Dacxi UK alongside Chairman Ian Tyler (previously group head of Capital RBS and Group Treasurer for Tesco Bank) and non-executive director Jeremy Larsson (Lecturer and Fellow at the London Institute of Banking and Finance,

founder of The Telegraph Financial Services, head of Product and Commercial at John Lewis Finance, Global Head of Innovation at RBS Group, Principal Advisor at KPMG Advisory,  Principal Consultant for Group Strategy at Barclays Bank plc)
